for Keep the Spirit of ’45 Alive participants

Organizations and individuals who participated in the first annual “Spirit of ’45 Day” are warmly invited to gather in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for an exciting leadership workshop.

Join us as we plan the 2011 national campaign to establish a permanent annual day to honor the men and women of the World War II generation!
The gathering will be co-hosted by the U.S.S. Kidd Veterans Memorial which organized one of the most successful Spirit of ’45 Day events last year. Louisiana was the first state in America to officially establish an Annual Spirit of ’45 Day.
- Be recognized as a founding member of the first annual Spirit of ’45 Day!
- Learn about the variety of events being planned for the 2011 national campaign!
- Meet other organizations dedicated to preserving the World War II memory and share your ideas for making Spirit of ’45 Day 2011 an even bigger success!
- Celebrate the U.S.S. Kidd’s “Birthday” (commissioning anniversary) with a fun filled Spirit of ’45 dinner with 40’s style music and entertainment!
- Join national partners as we launch the countdown to the 2nd Annual Spirit of ’45 Day (August 14, 2011)!

Schedule:
Friday, February 25:
- 6:00 PM - Lone Status Sailor unveiling and reception
Saturday, February 26:
- Registration begins at 9:00
- Morning work sessions from 9:30 – 12:15
- Luncheon
- Afternoon work sessions from 1:15 – 5:30
- Spirit of ’45 Dinner
Sunday:
- Closing ceremony (Memorial Service and Taps) at the Lone Sailor Statue

Fees:
The workshop fee is $100, which is WAIVED for all organizations and individuals who participated in last year’s Spirit of ’45 activities.
Travel:
Affordable fares are available from most airports to Baton Rouge, LA (BTR). Click here for information on local ground transportation.

Meals: The luncheon will be $10/person; the Spirit of ’45 dinner will be $19.45/person (payable on site).
